Let's Make Your Garden Beautiful And Green!
Grass Cutting
Keeping your lawn maintained will help you have a beautiful lush lawn and help prevent your lawn from getting weeds.
Herbicide
Your typical round up or more chemical direct to kill a specific broadleaf weed or even a type of grass. Herbicide is always done pre-emergent, post emergent or spot spray. Keep in thought it has to be done due to the wind and nature blowing seeds all over this great earth.
Fertilization 0-0-0
These three numbers on a bag of fertilizer indicate the respective percentages of nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P) and potassium (K). Essential for any lawn or flower bed to grow and stay healthy.
Mulching
Very aesthetic for flower beds. Mulching typically should be replaced once a year to keep flower beds fresh and healthy. Old mulch can sometimes decay and can grow organisms and hurt your flower bed. Always good to change it once a year at minimum.
Hedge Trimming
We offer hedge trimming which is the process of cutting and shaping hedges to maintain their desired size, shape, and overall health. We will come to the location of the hedge(s) and can usually determine the shape, size of hedge(s) and from there decide the best shape (e.g., formal, informal, rectangular, or rounded) and the height and without stressing the plant. Clean up with rakes or whatever is necessary to remove any clippings or debris from the area to keep the landscape neat and prevent disease. Water the hedge thoroughly after trimming to help it recover, especially if the weather is dry. Fertilize if needed, depending on the plant species and soil condition. Hedges generally need to be trimmed 1-3 times per year, depending on the growth rate of the plants and the desired appearance. Don’t forget regular hedge trimming keeps your hedges looking neat and tidy, encourages healthy growth, and can enhance the overall appearance of your garden or landscape.
Tree Trimming
We provide services of light tree trimming which typically involves removing small branches or limbs to improve the tree's overall shape, health, and appearance. This process may include:
1. *Removing Dead or Diseased Branches*: Cutting off branches that are dead, diseased, or damaged to prevent decay and improve tree vitality.
2. *Thinning the Crown*: Selectively removing smaller branches to reduce density, allowing more light and air to penetrate through the tree, which promotes healthy growth.
3. *Shaping the Tree*: Trimming branches to maintain a balanced and aesthetically pleasing shape without drastically altering the tree's natural form.
4. *Elevating the Canopy*: Removing lower branches to provide clearance for pedestrians, vehicles, or structures underneath the tree.
Light tree trimming is generally performed using hand tools like pruning shears, loppers, and small saws, focusing on making clean cuts to promote quick healing.
Cleaning of Overgrown
Your typical round up or more chemical direct to kill a specific broadleaf weed or even a type of grass. Herbicide is always done pre-emergent, post emergent or spot spray. Keep in thought it has to be done due to the wind and nature blowing seeds all over this great earth.
Flower Bed Design
At Diamond Hand Lawns And Landscaping we can help facilitate and design new flower bed or improve with a little hardscaping of paver walls; But first the designing and installing a flower bed with a paver wall involves several steps to create a functional and visually appealing landscape feature. Here's an overview of the process:
*1. Planning and Design*
- *Determine the Location*: We will decide on a spot in your yard that receives the appropriate amount of sunlight for the plants you intend to grow. Considering proximity to walkways, patios, and other landscape features.
- *Measure and Outline*: Measure the desired area for the flower bed and mark it with stakes and string, or spray paint to define the boundaries. The shape could be rectangular, circular, or curved, depending on your design preference.
- *Select Pavers and Plants*: Choose pavers that complement your home’s exterior and the overall landscape. We will select plants that are suitable for your climate, soil type, and the level of sun exposure in the area.
*2. Installing the Paver Wall*
- *Excavate the Area*: Dig out the soil along the marked outline of the flower bed to the depth required for the pavers, typically 4-6 inches, plus the height of the pavers.
- *Prepare the Base*: Add a layer of gravel or crushed stone (2-4 inches) at the bottom of the trench to promote drainage. Compact the base using a simple tamper or compactor if needed.
Placing the pavers along the outline, ensuring they are level. Once the pavers are in place, backfill behind the wall with soil or gravel to secure them. Next will be Preparing the Flower Bed. Loosen the soil inside the bed to a depth of at least 6-8 inches. Amend it with compost or organic matter to improve fertility and drainage. We will lay down landscape fabric to prevent weeds from growing, allowing it to extend up to the paver wall.
- *Plant Selection and Layout*: Arrange the plants according to the design, considering their mature size, bloom time, and color scheme. Taller plants will be positioned at the back or center, with shorter plants in front.
- *Planting*: Dig holes for each plant, ensuring they are at the correct depth. Place the plants in the holes, backfill with soil, and press down gently.
- *Mulching*: Add a 2-3 inch layer of mulch to help retain moisture, suppress weeds, and give the bed a finished look.
*4. Final Touches*
- *Watering*: it’s very crucial and important the home owner waters the new planted plants according with specific breed of plants that will be outlined after installation. Of course the watering of the plants thoroughly after planting is to help them establish roots.
